Welcome to Typhoons

Practices this week

Practices this week are scheduled to prepare for the Mega Ice 5s tournament (MI5s).  Players for SQ, PW, and BNTM have already been chosen for the 'A' division, and they practice on Monday at 7:15 SQ, 8:15 PW, and 9:15pm BNTM at Elements.  This ice time is part of the $900 they must pay for all their practices.

There are 2 sessions that will take place to determine the 'A' teams for the final 2 divisions, Atoms and the other, MiniSquirts.  We will have an Atom team 'A' tryout on Monday at 6:15pm at Elements (it is open to all players born in 2003 or later).  The other session is at 6:15pm on Tuesday at Elements for MiniSquirt players (2001-2002) who are trying out for the 'A' team.

We also have practices for all players in SQ (1999-2000), PW (1997-1998), and BNTM (1994-1996) who want to play in the MI5s tournament, but were not chosen for the 'A' team.  If you want to be placed on a team in the recreational 'B' division, then you must come to the practice so we can evaluate and make even teams for each division.

THE COST PER PRACTICE FOR TRYOUTS OR 'B' DIVISION EVALUATIONS IS $200 PER PRACTICE.

ALL PLAYERS WHO WISH TO PLAY IN THE MI5s TOURNAMENT WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM.  IF YOU WANT TO PLAY, YOU MUST COME OUT TO THE PRACTICES, OR EMAIL DWAYNE LETTING HIM KNOW YOU CAN'T MAKE IT, BUT YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED.

Notice to All Players and Parents

NEW RULES IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY

1.  No parents are allowed on, behind, or near the player bench.  All parents must stand away from the bench to watch the games.  ONLY the registered coaches may be on the bench.  This rule is now in effect for ALL DIVISIONS.

Elements -parents are not allowed to stand anywhere on the side of the players bench and scoreclock.  They may stand at either end of the rink, or on the opposite side.

Festival Walk - no parents are allowed to stand anywhere on the player bench side.  They can stand from where the glass starts by the entrance for the skating area, and on the end.

Dragon Centre - no parents are allowed within 15 feet of the bench.  They may stand on the other side, or either end, or even by the scorekeeper.

We are seeing too many incidents of parents getting in altercations with refs, coaches and players.  We have volunteer coaches who will take care of the players, and there is absolutely no need for any parent to be on, behind, or near the bench.  This will be strictly enforced at all rinks this weekend.  If you have any issues with this, please call or email Dwayne who can explain this further.  NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

2.  Any foul or confrontational language during or after games will result in game suspensions for players, and if the problem persists, then we will consider ejecting the player from the league without reimbursement of fees.  Please read our mission statement in the About Us tab in the main menu tabs.  We hope to develop sportsmanship among our members, and we hope to teach players about teamwork and respect for others.  Further incidents involving players and parents will not be tolerated.

Any complaints should be lodged to Dwayne following the games ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and he will follow up and take appropriate action based on facts and all sides of the story.  No arguments or complaints should be aired in front of the players.  I am available to listen, and I will look for a solution which works best for everybody involved.  There is a process that needs to be taken to ensure we are providing the best possible atmosphere for the players.

Please refer to the 'team rosters' tab in the main menu to see the list of coaches who are allowed on the bench.

Thank you.
